The European Cup "Quali" winners are

It seems that, following the abandoned 2026 European Cup race at the MRTE track in Evry, we do in fact have final standings after all. Of course, the final standings reflect the balance of performance following the first three qualifying heats, without taking into account the potential changes from the last two qualifying heats and, more importantly, the final heats – which we were most looking forward to and which would have brought plenty of excitement, action and a bit of chaos on this fast and tricky track.

The drivers who were unable to put in a clean run after three qualifying heats might not have managed it even after five heats. Who knows? We believe that some of the pilots still thought they had a chance of moving further up. Their chase was abruptly stopped by the cancellation. That said, things didn’t get any worse for others either – perhaps especially not for those who still had hope that things would improve.

An ending like this naturally leaves plenty of room for speculation. Even more so than usual, when people often say, ‘If only that hadn’t happened...’

In any case, we’d like to offer our warmest congratulations to the two class "qualification" winners Alexander Hagberg in the competitive Modified class and Marco Friesacher in the huge Stock class field and hope that they’ll be able to take part in the European PRO 10 Cup again next year and try to secure maybe a victory with the final races as well.

Back to RC Car Racing

Following these unexpected events, let’s get back to what really matters: our PRO 10 RC car hobby.

It is surely undisputed that, since the PRO 10 class was removed from the official EFRA and IFMAR federations, there has never been such a large and competitive field of drivers at a PRO 10 race. And we’re talking about the period since the beginning of 2000 – that is, for around 25 years.

This fills us with pride and joy. This is not only thanks to James Hild, the organiser of the PRO10 Series and the European Cup, but also to all the supporters, all the organisers and the clubs hosting the events – who each take a risk and put in a tremendous amount of work – and to all the participants, who carry the spirit of the sport into their local scenes and inspire further enthusiasts.

Thrilling Speeds

Nevertheless, we were treated to some breathtaking racing action and got a glimpse of what is technically possible on this track with the modern PRO 10 cars when the people who pursue this hobby professionally are at the controls.

This was the situation after three qualifying heats:
We’ve noticed that some of those in the top 10 are people we’ve never met, but you may well have heard or read of them.

There is a great deal of variation amongst the various manufacturers of Pro 10 vehicles, even amongst the frontrunners. This proves that even the smallest manufacturers can establish themselves among the frontrunners if their equipment is in the right hands.

In the Modified class, there are 7 different car brands in the Top 10

  • 3  x JRP
  • 2 x XRAY
  • 1 x ROCHE
  • 1 x KaTi
  • 1 x WRP
  • 1 x VIP
  • 1 x WaMi

In the Stock class, there are 5 different car brands in the Top 10

  • 4 x XRAY
  • 2 x WRP
  • 2 x ROCHE
  • 1 x Schumacher
  • 1 x KaTi

Usually, in other RC Racing classes, there aren’t so many different manufacturers in the front positions, and above all, no smallest manufacturers such as WRP, JRP, VIP, KaTi and WaMi are competing.
This may be due, on the one hand, to the apparent simplicity of the cars or, on the other hand, to the drivers’ passionate enthusiasm.

Not to be forgotten is the italian company FENIX RACING, which, whilst not quite making it to the very top, but acts as a link between the major manufacturers and the smallest manufacturers and has made a name for itself in the scene.

The PRO10 mindset

And finally, everyone is committed to ensuring that brotherhood and friendship is a top priority on the racetrack. You can battle it out fiercely on the track, but there should be no rivalries off it. Everyone exchange ideas so that each person can perform to the best of their ability. May the fastest and most consistent driver win.

As Alex also mentioned, this spirit of camaraderie is, unfortunately, not the case in many other classes. Economic interests, aimed at gaining an advantage over others, have got out of hand. He was pleased to see, that the PRO 10 community is different. May this spirit endure and spread to other classes back again.

The major manufacturers may be forgetting that the foundation of their business is the ordinary amateur driver, not the professional. The salaries of the professionals and all the staff are funded by the paying customers!

An unexpected ending

Unfortunately, this year’s European PRO10 Cup had to be cancelled for health and safety reasons following a major fire in the immediate vicinity of the MRTE Club’s racecourse, on a former and abandonned garbage dump. The risk of toxic gases being released could not be ruled out.

We fully understand and respect the decision to evacuate the site. However, we deeply regret this abrupt end. We also hope that the inhabitants of the accomodation and the emergency services, firefighters and policemen are unharmed.

There is great disappointment at the cancellation, as everyone involved had been preparing for and looking forward to this event for a long time. However, it is the MRTE club that has been hit hardest, having invested a great deal of money, a big amount of time and a lot of passion in the run-up to the event to offer drivers, support staff and visitors the best possible service and an unforgettable experience.

The European Cup

The fourth edition of Europe’s largest championship for PRO 10 RC cars, which has been held annually in France since 2023, is enjoying growing popularity. This year’s edition, held in Paris, or rather Evry or Ris-Orangis (a southern Parisian suburb) is something of a homecoming and a logical step, given that Paris is the home to the largest PRO 10 community in France, or even in the whole of Central Europe, and the organising club MRTE (Mini Racing Team Essonne) has a wealth of experience in organising major events, as EFRA European Championships. With more than 120 members, the club is one of the largest RC Car clubs I know.

With Team Xray’s entry into the PRO 10 class, which had previously been dominated by small to micro manufacturers or even small craft producers such as Fenix Racing, Roche Products International, VIP-Performance, WRP, JRP, Excelerate and many others, a wider target audience may have been reached. Whether this development is sustainable and long-lasting is something we will only be able to rate in a few years’ time.

What we can say for certain, however, is that the establishment of the European Cup has given the class a boost and has somewhat improved the connections between the various PRO 10 drivers in Central Europe.

In any case, you've already heard about the two BIG names who will be competing the 2026 European Cup

It will be a big pleasure to meet these guys and compete them on the track.

European PRO 10 Cup 2026

The fourth edition of the famous EUROPEAN PRO 10 CUP will take place next year at the legendary and ever-popular model car racing track of the MRTE, the Mini Racing Team Essonne near Evry/Ris-Orangis in south-Paris on the weekend of 3rd to 5th July 2026.

Some of the most enthusiastic PRO 10 drivers, around the JRP-Team, in France come from exactly this Club and have played a significant role in ensuring that the class continues to grow and has never died out. With their own developments, enthusiasm and passion for the hobby, they have shaped the scene and deserve the host of the biggest raceof the year for the PRO 10 class!

We are all looking forward to seeing you and hope that many of you will attend.
James will certainly organize shuttle buses from the airport and interesting hotel offers nearby if the journey by car takes too long. He will inform you as soon as possible via facebook page (push the button below)
